The National Education Policy 2010 (NEP) of Bangladesh stipulates the establishment of a National Accreditation Council that would ensure quality of the academic programs offered by the higher education institutions of the country.
Establishment of quality assurance mechanism at the universities is the first step towards the formation of the proposed Accreditation Council. The concept of IQAC is to set up the internal quality assurance system in the universities and to make them ready to meet the requirements for accreditation. The IQACs shall become a permanent body of the universities that will be sustained and maintained under the revenue budget of the university.
